About our Patron:
Dr James Wright AM, is well-known to many from his 25 years as resident doctor on the Midday Show, originally the Mike Walsh Show. He also wrote the weight loss diets for Womans Day, ran his own radio show for 20 years and his health tips are still syndicated on 100 radio stations in Australia as well as in community newspapers including the Gold Coast Sun.
In 1973, Dr Wright - real name Dr John Knight - set up the MediAid Foundation with his wife, Noreen, a registered nurse, to provide low-cost accommodation in Sydney and on the Gold Coast to elderly people with financial, health or disability issues. In 1998 Dr Wright was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) for his media outreach and the work of the MediAid Foundation. www.mediaid.org.au
In 2010 Expos held at Runaway Bay Community Centre in March and Broadbeach Community Centre in July were opened by Dr Wright, who gave seniors tips on how to live a long and healthy life. The much-loved doctor is a great supporter of the Seniors Expos and will attend when his many other commitments in Sydney allow.
We appreciate the support of the much-loved 'media medic'.
